The Rustic Barn
Kalispell | Flathead Valley MT
Our Barn's History
In 1887, the town of Demersville was starting to boom and disassembled (literally) in 1891 when the railroad decided to run through the town of Kalispell. Many buildings from Demersville were torn down and reassembled in Kalispell. The Rustic Barn made its journey Southeast and was reassembled as a barn here in Lower Valley. We are seeking info if it can be found of what the original building in Demersville might have been that hosted these handhewn beams and timbers with bark still attached.
The farm in Lower Valley where the barn still stands once held newborn foals, Belgians, and Wagons handcrafted and used up until the 90's. We are repurposing it to stand for at least 50 more years with foundation work, new beams, new glass and some windows. If you can direct us to how to locate it's history or know of a story of it's use before we "bought the farm" -- please share!
